Hello,

In order to manage our supply chain, we are using the reorder point and maximum inventory for the spare parts. We have certain formulas and criterias to calculate these points but for now we do that process in excel then import these calculated points to the BC. Is this functionality exist in BC where we can arrange the parameters of calculation and let BC auto calculate Reorder Point and Maximum Inventory ?

Thanks for your help !

I have the same question (0)

    RE: Automatic Reorder Point Calculation

An automatic assessment of your Item Planning Parameters and the option to update them does not exist in base BC.  This would be a hard thing to create as it is going to vary greatly by industry.  The closest thing is a trend analysis of your past sales to attempt to predict what will be needed if the trend continues.

There is a product from Insight Works called Enhanced Planning Pack.  I've been impressed with what we've seen of it so far, and are currently implementing it at two clients.

    RE: Automatic Reorder Point Calculation

Hi, There are the following functions in BC, but I think they are not completely consistent with your needs, you can try them.

    About Planning Functionality:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/production-about-planning-functionality

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/plan-items-dynamics-365-business-central/

If you can't satisfy you, you can consider customizing and developing your Excel functions into BC extension.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

I agree with Nathalie, there are no automatic tools to use these formulas and fill in respective items. However I suggest you look at AppSource for this. I know there are certain tools which will help you get your result in an efficient format

    An example : appsource.microsoft.com/.../PUBID.amerdian_5270796|AID.d365bc_purchase_planning|PAPPID.55c24823-a846-46c9-b5a7-475790761f2b

    RE: Automatic Reorder Point Calculation

Hello, In my point of view, you can't automatically update those parameters in BC.

    You need to import them.

If you would like a dynamic method to order your items, you should use wih a reordering policy in Lot -for-lot, the parameter : Lot accumulation period.

If you use forecast for example, BC will propose you, orders in the MRP calculation which will create stock.

Exemple : 3M in Lot accumulation. The MRP will propose you to have in stock the demand for the next 3 monthes. And it will be updated every time you use the MRP calculation.

    Hope it could help you.
