CTP for planning optimization alghorithm

Hello all,

I am considering using CTP for planning optimization on my project.

I have a doubt regarding delivery date calculation alghoritm.

Are ATP offset/backwards dates considered in CTP at all?

I assume that the answer is no, and I am wondering on what exactly is taken into consideration on on-hand availability of each component.
I have not managed to find this information online, on the actual alghortim?

Or is this information not available and I just accept the suggested date as it is.

I am new to the functionality, thanks for understanding.

Appreciate help in advance,
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,
Typically CTP considers factors such as current inventory availability, production capacity, and the time required to manufacture parts to determine whether a customer's delivery date can be met. Compared with traditional ATP, CTP will take various factors in the production process into further consideration to ensure that the required products are delivered within an acceptable time. Regarding ATP calculation and CTP calculation you can check the document below for details.

Hello Hana, I have checked the documentation.

I can understand how ATP works with the predefined backwards and offset dates, but I dont see a similar explanation for CTP.

It says that "CTP extends ATP functionality by considering capacity information", but I couldnt find in what exact way.

Does it mean that I still need to set ATP backwards and offset days when using CTP or CTP for planning optimization?

Or do I just switch on CTP and let it do the magic?

"Are ATP offset/backwards dates considered in CTP at all?" - No, not at all.  Those are ATP parms.

On-hand availability and lead time (simple purchase / transfer days or routing time of make items) of components are considered.  CTP runs a mini-MRP for your individual demand line.  Coverage time fences, capacity time fences, finite material / fine capacity parms are all respected.   I'd suggest reviewing this documentation and reviewing the explosion on your sales order line after the CTP calculation has run to get a better insight of what D365 is seeing. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/master-planning/planning-optimization/calculate-delivery-dates-using-ctp
