hello,

I am trying to integrate a customer file and getting the following error message. Another coworker integrated the same file without any issues. Does anyone have any idea what the error might be? Thanks in advance!

Here is the error message:

A couple of follow up questions:

    1) Did your colleague use the exact same file and data that you are using? Or did you colleague's file have different data in it?

    2) Are you able to open the file you're trying to import into GP, and if so what is in the "Short Name" field?

    3) Are you familiar with how the integration manager job was built? If so, what happens if you remove the mapping for the "Short Name" field?

    4) What does the "window command display" dropdown menu in your user preferences window?

Right now I think what's happening is there are some errors happening related to the field length for the "Short Name" field. Those errors may be causing another window to pop up in the back ground and that's causing the failures to happen.

Integration Manager is basically just a bunch of macros that kick off when you click "Run". All it's really doing is entering each field that's on your source file into the Customer Maintenance window and then clicking save, then repeating until it gets to the end of the file (or the fields on the IM job don't match up to the fields on the window it's trying to enter data into).

    Please see response below:

    1) Yes colleague used exact same file and data

    2) I am able to open the file. Short name is just a field in the Customer Card in GP. That being truncated is expected as we do this integration every month.

    3) I have not tried to remove the mapping of "Short Name" field. I am not sure if this is a business requirement on our end.

    4) Not sure what this is, can you clarify?

    Thanks so much!

Also, I would like to mention that 92 integrations went through with Short Name being truncated. Thanks

Ok, I was wondering if it was something with data but your answers to 1,2 and 3 tell me that it's not.

Can you post a screenshot of the user preferences window? To get there, click "Microsoft Dynamics GP", then click  "User Preferences"

The field I'm referencing is circled below....

    userPreferences.png

If this is set to anything other than "Menu Bar", it can cause integration manager to throw strange error messages and randomly fail. What is it set to currently? If you change the setting, does your integration work?

    Michael,

I cannot see the screenshots. Not sure if those screenshots are corrupted. Is there another way you can show me?

quick question before running the integration again, if i run the same file again in IM, does it just overwrite the existing cards?

Without seeing the integration job I can't say for sure what it will do.

If it is set up to insert and update, it will insert new records and update any existing records with the information in your source file. If it's set to insert only then it will only integrate new customers.

Since there are no transactions you're probably fine running it again.

The "window command display" was set to Action Pane. I switched it over to Menu Bar. Looks like the same error is happening. This just looks like its isolated to me as other users have no issues. They all also have it on Action Pane and have no issues. Any other ideas?

Do you have GP installed locally or are you connecting via terminal services or some other way? If it's installed locally, have you tried restarting your computer? There may be a temp file somewhere that's causing issues.
