Fixed Asset Integration Account Group

After integrating fixed assets into Great Plains, all of the different assets are going to the same account. Each asset has its correct account group associated with it. I have checked all assets, and their account groups are correct, but when I look at the assets not interfaced report, they are all being interfaced to one particular account group. How can I get this corrected?

What mechanism did you use to integrate Fixed Assets?

We use Integration Manager with eConnect

If you check a few of your Fixed Asset records in Financial > Cards > Fixed Assets > General.  You will note there is no value maintained in the Account Group field (this should be true whether you imported this field or not). Typically the Account Group ID is matched to the Asset by the Asset Class ID during integration.

I tend to use Macros for this process, and not Integration Manager or the Fixed Asset Import Utility. I would recommend making sure you have the Account Group ID mapped to your Asset Classes and then create a macro to update the class of each of your Asset IDs.

Because our company has a lot departments, our account groups include the cost centers for each department. All of the Account Group IDs integrated just fine and I have verified they match the asset it is associated with. Our issue is when we look at the assets not interfaced report, Great Plains is placing all of the assets under the same Asset Group ID instead of the correct Asset Group ID that is listed on the Asset Card.

RE: Fixed Asset Integration Account Group

Try the following experiment - setup up an Asset Class ID, and assign an Account Group ID to it (make sure this is not the same as the Accounts already assigned), then update the class on an existing asset and/or create a new Asset, assigning the newly created Asset Class ID. The accounts should change to the Accounts Assigned to Account Group ID connected to your Asset Class ID during this process.

If this bears out, then you need to create/link Asset Class IDs corresponding to all your Account Group IDs, then use a Macro to change the Account Class ID assigned to each of your assets.

NOTE: If the Asset Class ID is the same as the existing Asset Class ID assigned to an asset, GP doesn't think anything has changed, and will not update Asset settings (like accounts) based on the Asset Class ID change.  So, you would need to change the Asset Class ID to an alternative value prior to making this change.

RE: Fixed Asset Integration Account Group

    Hello,

I am trying to set up IM for Fixed asset upload; and running into a few problems. Can you share you're FA import integration with me? I want to see what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks,

    David W.
