Remove "Query" from Subject Tree

Hey guys, I'm trying to remove one of the default category "Query" from Subject tree. I removed all the associated records that have selected "Query" in the subject tree field such as Articles and Sales Literature form. However, CRM is still complaining with the error "The record cannot be deleted because of an association". The error log file did not specify which entity still having the association.

I have gone through all the Subject entity relationships and couldn't figure out which record is still having the connection.

Is there any out of the box CRM report or Views that use Subject tree and look for the field value "Query"?

    Hi NLuk,

You cannot delete Microsoft Dynamics CRM system entities.

The query subject is a system entity and you might not be able to delete it.

You can rename or hide system entities if you want.

Have a look at this link...

    Hope it answers your question.

    Regards,

    Hi NLuk,

Query is Subject title installed from Sample Data in CRM.

I can confirm it because I tried to my vanilla CRM, with and without sample data.

It is before I install sample data.

So, it is supposed to be 'delete-able'

Yes, you are right, the CRM does not tell you which record related to the subject.

Have you checked the Case and Product Catalog as well? Those entities beside the Articles and Sales Literatures are also using Subject as well.

Btw, I think, if you have removed all of your related record with Subject = Query, you need to remove the relationship to the child hierarchy as well, for example:

    subjectquery3.png

    Query has Information and Products.

Then, you should remove the records related to the Information and Products subject.

Worst case, you can just rename it (the 'Query') if you don't want to remove all.

As I did, I did remove all of the sample data + my data related to default subject, now my subject tree list is clearly cleared.

It is included the Inactive or Closed data.

    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

Thanks Aileen. The child subject (Information, Products) can be remove successfully but not "Query".

If you can remove the Query subject without editing any Views or Reports, it seems like the issue from the related entities.

I have gone through all the entities including Cases and Product according to the entity relationship and there is no record looking up to Subject = Query.
