Why is it so difficult to edit a personal dashboard?

I have a personal dashboard i created. I want to edit some of the tiles, both size and position and add new tiles. Seems simple? Oh no!

Sometimes when i drag a tile, i see the red line (suggesting it will be inserted before that tile) but nothing happens (other times the 'moved' tile disappears). Other times i get no indication of movement. When i try to add a new tile, the positioning is random - at the top, between other tiles, at the end - in itself not a big issue EXCEPT i cannot move the tile.

I know from other issues that there are issues with certain browsers when it comes to editing in CRM, so i have tried in Chrome, Edge (Why is a Microsoft product incomatable with their own browser?), IE, Firefox and still no luck.

A simple question and one i hope someone will be able to show me its just me.

    Hi Mark,

I tested it in my environment. As you said, Edge does not support moving tiles.

When we add a new tile, its position is actually regular.

If we click on the empty tile and then add a component, it will fill the empty tile. (Notice the blue stroke.)

If we click on the tile that has already been filled, and then add a component, a new row will be created at the bottom and a new component will be added at the left of the row.

If we click on the border of Section and added a new component, the result is the same, a new row will created at the bottom.

When you would like to move a tile, you could click on the tile and press the keyboard's arrow keys to move it. (This tile will have black dotted strokes.)

In addition, don't worry about such dense small rectangles, they have no function, just fill in the blank area. They will not be displayed in the final interface of the dashboard.

    Hi Lu,

Many thanks for taking the time to respond. Very clear and helpful set of examples. This will be very beneficial to many i think.

It seems so ridiculous that Microsoft Edge is not capable of being the operational platform for another Microsoft product. I have come across posts going back to the launch of Edge where CRM users identify isuses, such as this, and yet here we are some 3 -4 years later and still Edge is not up to the job.

Perhaps it is more a case of CRM not being friendly to a web environment? I have experienced the issue in a multi screen environment using Chrome, where the top part of the screen is 'missing'.

    Hi Mark,

Each browser has more or less unique compatibility issues.

This problem was not solved for several years because it was a problem that didn't seem so "serious."

Microsoft will first focus on real issues or bugs that prevent users from using certain features of D365 properly, such as users being unable create dashboards.

I would recommend you raise a support ticket to reflect this problem to Microsoft so they will follow it.
