maxRequestLenght and executionTimeout in the web config

Hello Forums Experts,

I´m looking on some technical insight on maxRequestLenght and executionTimeout from the web.config

We are facing synchronization issues on a number of Outlook Clients which go offline for the first time. They synchronize a large amount of data and hit a timeout on the 300 second mark, which is the default value for the executionTimeout which we did not change so far.

Microsoft advised me to increase the executionTimeout value.

 

I´m now looking for potential risks associated with increasing the value and any side effects it might have.

    The risks you may run into when you increase the executionTimeout value ,

    1.Performance of the system may be affected if  too many people goes offline during peak system use hours.

    2.If someone runs the report that takes long time to load it may also affect the system performance . Usually if report takes more than 30 seconds to load crm will terminate report execution to avoid performance overhead.

    Apart from these i dont think there in any serious risk in updating these values.

    You can find KB article how to modify thee values below , it says crm 4.0 but same applies to crm 2011 as well.
