BC Technical Upgrade from 13x to BC17

Hi Experts,

I am planning to upgrade one product with 1000 objects from BC 13x to 17.

in the standard object, we have very fewer changes(example: fields in tables, not the code)

all we are managing code with events(means Extension v1)

Can anyone suggest the best practice or steps follow?

Actually, I am bit confused because of other consultants feedback

One is saying txt2al code is not converting properly sometimes and another consultant is saying product must be redesigned manually.

Finally, I am thinking about below plans

Plan 1: Convert C/AL to AL using txt2al tool in 13  thereafter object redesign for 17

Plan 2: Convert Objects from BC13 to BC 14 thereafter Convert C/AL to AL using txt2al tool and next object redesign for 17(the reason is someone said that, in BC14 we have strong AL Compiler)

Appreciated for your support and suggestions..!

Thank you in advance

    Hi,

As you are asking for suggestion so second option looks much better to me. We have also upgraded even from older versions of NAV by first coming to BC 14 and then after converting customizations from C/AL to AL extension and deploying these first to target. And then migration of data using Cloud Migration Management.

Secondo option is the way to go.

Move from 13.x to 14.x with what you have right now.

Then in 14.x remove the code from custom object and use table extension, page extension and events.

Be sure that everything is working fine with the web client there. Test only in web client.

Then do the upgrade to 17.x
