Why no Business Central in China?

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know why Microsoft does not offer Business Central in China but other Dynamics products. For instance, F&O is offered with Chinese JV partner 21Vianet. Are there any plans to offer BC in China in future as well?

Microsoft NAV was used by Western SMEs in China.

Best regards

RE: Why no Business Central in China?

    Hi,

As Horia Micu-san mentioned, Azure in the China region is a bit of a special environment. I believe this is the result of the efforts of Microsoft and China.

The fact that Dynamics products other than BC can be used in Azure in China is the result of this effort. I respect this effort.

And the reason why BC is not available on Azure in China is because BC is not built on Dataverse environment unlike other Dynamics products, I guess.

I really hope that BC will be available in Azure China region, but I think it will require BC to be built on Dataverse or the effort I mentioned in the beginning will need to be done for BC. (This is just my personal guess.)

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi,

Mr. Kawamura and Yun Zhu are right, you can implement and use Dynamics Navision or Dynamics Business Central Onprem.

D365 BC SaaS is not available at this time.

According to Microsoft docs, In order to meet the China market’s growing needs for global public cloud services, Microsoft is planning to bring a new Azure Region to North China in 2022 through its local operating partner, 21Vianet. This expansion is expected to effectively double the capacity of Microsoft’s intelligent cloud portfolio in China in the coming years, which includes Azure, Microsoft Office 365, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform operated by 21Vianet, to power innovation and digital transformation for developers, partners, and customers in China and around the world.

Azure global regions and Azure China regions are physically disconnected. However, you can still connect subscriptions in Azure China and Azure global regions through composite VPN site-to-site or ExpressRoute.

You connect the subscription in the Azure China region with your on-premises site, and connect your on-premises site to your subscription in the Azure global region.

For other questions about Azure China, please check Azure China FAQs.

In China, Azure is operated by Shanghai Blue Cloud Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing 21Vianet Broadband Data Center Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as "21Vianet"). 21Vianet is China’s largest neutral third-party Internet infrastructure service telecommunications provider to which Microsoft has authorized technologies. In China, Azure combines Microsoft’s global technologies and 21Vianet’s local operating experience to build an enterprise-level international cloud computing platform for China.

Outside China, Microsoft Azure is operated by Microsoft itself. China’s Azure customers will be able to enjoy exactly the same user experiences and service level as customers in other areas.

RE: Why no Business Central in China?

Hi, Regarding this question, I once asked the head of Microsoft (Mr. Søren Alexandersen, https://twitter.com/MeFriis), and his answer was that Microsoft currently does not feel the need to release BC in China (I'm not sure if there is a deeper reason).

And unfortunately, the most recent major update this year does not include China.

But at the end of 2020 Microsoft added Business Central platform support which contains Chinese (Simplified, PRC)

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/compliance/apptest-countries-and-translations

So if you want to use BC now, you can use the On-Premises version, or choose Hong Kong SAR region or Taiwan region in SaaS, and then use simplified Chinese.

    Hope this info will help.

    Thanks.

    ZHU
