Visual studio asking for license

Hi everyone

Recently i am encountering this issue , when i am trying to connect to visual studio in my developer environment, Its saying evaluation period is expired, please obtain license.
i have checked for license its showing no eligible license available for this account and whenever i am trying to connect it through product key, its says no access available. I have raised this issue with the client, they are saying "We have never provided Visual studio licensing for anyone throughout our D365 journey.", this is something the developers need to resolve by themselves. is that so?
If yes how can i resolve this.Attaching screenshot for reference

Visual Studio indeed isn't free and clients usually pay vendors for work; they don't buy tools that vendors need to do their business. But it's completely up to the contract between those two companies.

If you are employed, you should ask people in your organization responsible for these things. The company may have already purchased licenses, got them from a partner agreement with Microsoft or so.

If you're self-employed, it's up to handle your licenses. You can simply buy the license, although it's not cheap. Or maybe you can make a deal with the client after all, if they have a spare license or can obtain it cheaper than you.

Are you a Freelance developer , or your company is working on project with your client ?

Yes, the client is correct , Visual Studio licensing is not included with every contract with client , it is based on contract with you and your company before taking the project that how the infra and security would be managed.   Developers or Contractor company can be responsible for their own Visual Studio license.
    How to resolve:
If you work on Dynamics 365 CE / Power Platform, you can use Visual Studio Code (free) instead of Visual Studio. you can perform most of the activity like
    • PCF control development.
    • JavaScript/TypeScript for client-side scripts.
    • Node.js-based PCF development.
    • Basic C# plugin development (with manual build/deploy).
If you work on Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (X++), you must need a licensed Visual Studio (Professional/Enterprise) or use the pre-licensed developer VM from LCS.
Alternatively not sure about your project but can install Visual Studio Community Edition (free) if your organization meets Microsoft’s eligibility criteria (non-enterprise or for learning/open-source).
At last i would say , Buy a license, use Community Edition if eligible, or switch to VS Code for CE development.
