GP Manufacturing Module - Sales Forecasting

Hi all,

Manufacturng installed. I set up a Sales forecast for the next 12 months for a particular item. This item is a Make/Buy item with a bill of materials associated with it. I have none in stock.

When I run an MRP refresh, shouldn't these forcasted sales affect my MRP planning figures?

In my case they don't - so I presume I've missed something simple like a tick box to include forecasts or something. Gone through everything and can't spot it. Any ideas?

    Several things related to item setup: is the item-site combination used in Sales Forecasting utilizing an MRP Order Policy in the Item Resource Planning window?

    Since you are using Sales Forecasting, the answer is most likely that you have not selected the Sales Forecast for MRP.  You can do this by clicking on the GoTo button for the Sales Forecast window and selecting Forecast Selections.  Here, you can select a Sales Forecast per site and make it visible to MRP.

    David is absolutely correct - I've had a couple of mfg clients call me with the same problem. I think the screen he's talking about - doesn't even have a save button - you insert and close out.....the caveat to using sales forecasting is to know one forecast per site.......just like mrp - single site (supply demand calculation)........

    Thanks all, yes I'm pretty sure that I have completed the steps above correctly. I'll just start from scratch again - its a test enviornment...so maybe something is screwy.

    If you use the item on a sales order and re-run MRP, does it pick up the item there?  In other words, is the problem located to Sales Forecasting, or is it the item/something else?

    Okay - there's actually a bunch of possible issues:

    1. After importing or creating BOM's - you need to run the Mfg utility to create Low Level Codes...

    2. Check contents of MRP Exclusions table (M030000) if item/site is in that table - MRP is not calculating.

    3. The famous 'default values' on Item Resource Planning should have both a order policy and a 'calculate MRP' checked (applies to sites in Item Resource Planning as well)

    4. To add even more confusion - Item Engineering screen also has a calculate checkbox on it - both it and Item Resource Planning need to be checked........

    Manufacturing can be quite confusing........Have fun!

    Hi David - problem is sales forecasting only. Sales Orders produce an MRP quantity.

    Hi Bron - manually created the BOM. Ran the utility to create the low level codes. The item is not in the Exclusions (I had already checked this on the report - but will query the table now - you never know).. I'll check all of those check boxes also, to be sure.

    Yep - its a big module! Lots of tick boxes!!
