Reporting with MR - Report Wizard and Dimensions Available

ReportReport

Hello Everyone,

So I'm fiddling around in MR trying to make new reports (new user). I'm using the report wizard and eventually you are prompted to pick which dimensions you want to use to sort in report sections. I'm only seeing three dimensions (we have one for operational functions (where most of our accounts are listed) and the others are to differentiate products. Instead I want to see all of the accounts I have in the system. How can I tweak this to show me the correct accounts/segment I need? Thanks!!!

Here are some pictures incase they help!

    Hi Kimberly -

In looking at the screen shots you've provided, specifically the Account Format one, which is your natural account/GL Account?

You have Product as your main segment which could be why you're not seeing all the accounts you're expecting unless I'm misunderstanding something.

    Hi Sean,

So if I change my main segment to category (the one which has my breakdown) I would be able to see everything? Also natural/GL Account? I'm a little confused as well.

    Thanks for your help! :)

    Correct.

I'm assuming based on number of segments and length, the category segment is your natural/GL Account numbers (ie. 1000, 2000, 3000, etc.) so if you change your Main Segment from Product to Category you should see all the accounts you're expecting to see.

Let me know if this works!  :)

    Hi Sean,

I just tried to change my main segment ID but it said there were "other users in this company". Any ideas?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Kimberly -

Dynamics GP won't allow any changes to the Account Format Setup window with users in the company.   Once everyone has logged out of this company, then you'll be able to make the necessary change.

    You've very welcome!

That what I was thinking. Is there a place where I can is logged into the company so I can kick them out?

There are two ways to see who's logged into the specific company:

    1.  In SQL Server management studio (depending on your level of comfort and expertise) you can execute the following script to see who's logged in:

    select * from DYNAMICS..ACTIVITY

    OR

    2.  In Dynamics GP go to Tools >> Utilities >> System >> User Activity  and the screen will show you who's logged into which company.

    Hope this helps!

Okay, so I've threw everyone out of the company - ha! Now I've changed my main segment to the one that has all the options I need. I go back into MR and still no change. Is there something I'm missing?

Can  you send some screen shots?   Just for confirmation, you're logged into TEST2 in MR as the default company correct?

Yes, I'm still logged into TEST2. Here's some screenshots!
