Reducing No of Decimal places fo UOM

HI All

When our system was setup most of the UOM;s were set to 4 or 5 DP (even grams), Virtually all of our items are setup with a grams as the inventory UOM, but a different UOM for purchasing (e.g. gallons), with a conversion specified by up to 5 DP.

Now we;re having big issues trying to post things because UI only shows 2dp. For example, system shows I have 21.25g of item A in Loc B. I try to move it and get an error saying I don't have enough quantity because there's really only 21.2485g.

The business gave us the OK to reduce the units of measure for grams to 2 DP.. When we try, we get this error:

The decimal precision cannot be changed because activated cost prices using this unit of measure exist.

I have 2 questions:

  1. is there a way to display more than 2 dp
  2. how can I get past this issue to change the UOM to 2 "The decimal precision cannot be changed because activated cost prices using this unit of measure exist."

Ok , I think the only way to do this is to run a stock count, get all the stock with more than 2 decimal places and round up to 2 then post again , this should allow you to then change the setup.

Of course, you should be trying this in a TEST environment ..

Here's where we get the error (trying to change DP from 4 to 2)

Could you screenshot one of the activated costs that is throwing error (point 2) ?

    Regarding your 2 points

1 - as far as I am aware it is not possible, the system will show always 2 decimal places even though on the DB is more ( I never understood why is this way)

2 - the activated cost for these products should have a cost reactivated for a price with 2 decimal places, in that case the ERP system should allow you to apply the change.

    Thanks for reply Alessandro

The issues isn't the decimal places in the price, its the decimal places in the Unit "Grams"
