Need Connector Reinstall after server crash- Missing MSCRM Server license key- is this needed for the connector installation?

Bad news when a SQL server crashes...even worse when the database backups are not up to date, etc.

Piece by piece, we have been getting through the SQL 2008 R2 server rebuild and are finding along the way what is missing.

MSCRM 2011 application is installed on a different server. A user tried to run a report and received a reporting error that it could not be run because the Connector for SSRS is required and is not installed. I did some research (mind you, this is all out of my scope) and figured out that we need to install this piece on the rebuilt server.

Install files were downloaded and expanded- some sites say I need to do the full server install before I can do the Connector? Is this true if we have the full install on another server? I had started to do this, then was asked for the license key. All I was able to locate was our old CRM3 and CRM4 keys, which of course did not work. Our past vendor that performed the upgrade is no longer around to see if we can find this information.

So bottom line is, do I actually need this key and the full install? The system backup files from the old server suggest I do not. Is there a way to obtain our current license key?

Any helpful tips on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Update- I went ahead and tried the Connector install piece by itself and it worked!

No license key prompt or errors that I needed the full program.

    Good to go!
