SQL Server Timeout Expired Error

As many of you aware about this error in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, the user is trying to "Set Regarding" the email in Outlook and attach a excel file from Case entity but it gives him the error saying "SQL Server Timeout Expired..." Yes i did tried increasing the OLEDBTimeout in System registry but the error is still up. I am pretty sure the error might be occurring due to the slow execution of query but it would be great help if someone can guide me through how i can resolve this error. Thanks in advance.

I would make sure the 55kb doc isn't already opened or there isn't a dialog window open relating to it somewhere. A 55k file is nothing to load in and should have a negligible difference to the load time of a 0k file.

    Josh,

When i am trying to attach the Blank Excel file and set the regarding of it, it works perfectly fine but when i try to attach the document contains good amount of data it causes that error. The file size is 55 KB.

    Thank You,

    Sumeet,

The first time i saw this error i did made sure the version of CRM and CRM outlook is same which is Update rollup 11 Critical Update.

    Josh,

That makes whole lot of sense, i did went to my server and checked the Event Viewer where it was showing a warning about a query execution time. I might have to check with user that how large Excel file she is attaching. Thank You so much. I will get back to you.

Approximately how much time is elapsing before the timeout error? It looks like you're on-prem so I would have the DBA at your company take a look at the database. When attaching files and setting regarding you are accessing what may be very large tables (activityparty, activitypointer, email, ActivityMimeAttachment etc)

Also, how large is the Excel file being attached? Does it work with a smaller file? I would also make sure the excel file is not open when they attempt to attach it as that could hang it up as well.

    Hi Durgesh,

Please check that the Rollup of CRM Org and Outlook should be same.

    Rudra,

I currently don't have sysadmin rights on my SQL Sever, so i am not able to use SQL Profiler.
