Supply Chain/Inventory ETA Management

Hello,

We run on Dynamics GP 2010 (latest version migration is on the list behind a few other projects)

We are a multi-channel Bath & Kitchen distributor; dealing in finished goods to consumers and resellers. We have some domestic suppliers, but most are overseas. Currently we are looking for tools or methods to improve our ETA reporting to our retail showrooms and more critically to our resellers.

While we deal in finished goods, some of those goods end up being on-demand components for kits. But we need to be able to provide inventory levels and ETAs to our resellers at the kit level.

Examples:

SKU1, SKU2, SKU3 - are all sold separately; we report inventory levels of these SKUs (or their ETA date, if out of stock) to our resellers.

KIT1 (SKU1 + SKU2) - Kit inventory level (which is equal to the inventory level of the component with least inventory) needs to be reported to resellers; or if it is out of stock, the KIT ETA (which is equal to the ETA of the component with the longest ETA where receipt of goods would satisfy all backorders).

Problems:

- Production issues and raw material acquisition for our overseas supplying factories cause fluctuations in our ETAs. ETAs are really only stable when goods are loaded in container and on cargo ship.  As some production periods are 3 - 6 months, the ETA dates can change frequently.

- Dynamics GP only keeps original promised date and current promised date on the PO header or Item line.  Due to the above, the 'current promised date' field is updated frequently, so we lose the ability to compare current promised to most recent promised date.  We can only compare original to current.

- There is no alerting when a Promised Date changes.

Working Solution:  Currently we pull data directly from SQL for Promised Date on PO lines and perform some functions externally to extract ETA and inventory levels for components and Kits, but this is arduous and imperfect.

My question is if there are any 3rd party tools that help with these reporting functions and or generate alerts for changes?
