ITEM TRACKED SALES LINES IN RETURN SALES ORDER

Most of my items are defined by item tracking. I have set up a Returns Location in my company because I never want the returned items to enter the regular sell from Location where they may accidentally be picked for another SO before they have been visually inspected and deemed appropriate for resale.  However, when I process a Sales Return, I am not able to edit the original ship from Location code.  The error message indicates:  Item tracking is defined for item #### in the Sales Line. You must delete the existing item tracking before modifying or deleting the Sales Line.

This seems rather odd to me.  I would think that most companies would like to set aside and visually inspect any returns before allowing them to be available for resale.  Have I missed a set up somewhere that would allow me to have the lot tracked items returned to my Returns location and then reclassified to our sell from location?

Many thanks for your interest and help.

Linda

I have exact same problem - was hoping to return to "secondary location" directly instead of just return it to the main location and then having to move inventory out of it to secondary location but is experiencing this error.

    Hi

We have and use the same method. They said for finance/inventory standpoint it makes sense to put the product back to the same location. You basically have two options here

    Option 1:

    1) in RMA (return) before changing location select the item with SN then go to Lines -> Line ->  Item Tracking Lines then take a note of SN then delete SN.

    2) Then go and change the location

    3) Then go back Lines -> Line ->  Item Tracking Lines and add then SN and QTY.

Option 2: we have made a small development and added one location field on header than changing that location will bypass the error and change the location on line.
