Hello Expert,

getting the error "Update of sales order SO059115 canceled Order SO059115 already exists.." when trying to create the Return order for invoiced order, even though the order does exist in the return list,
not sure how to resolve it

Hi Vishal,
Can you confirm or share the screenshot of the Return order Header, showing the highlighted field.
If there is no return order tagged, the highlighted field should be blank.
Also check the table data through the table browser.

Hi Vishal,

First, we’d start by making sure to be looking at the 'All Return Orders' not the 'Open Return Orders' grid. Sales and Marketing > Sales Returns > All Return Orders. The Open Return Orders will of course only show return orders that haven't been processed yet. So start there and make sure someone else hasn't create a return already.

Next, try drilling in from the Item itself to view all the transactions tied to the item and see if you can find the return that way. Navigate to the Released Product you're trying to create the return for. In the Top Menu > Sell Tab > Open Sales Order Lines: Check to see if there is any negative quantity sales orders listed here.

Return Orders are often displayed as Sales Orders -- the only difference being that they have a negative quantity to credit inventory:

We’d start in those 2 places to see if you can find the Return Order. Otherwise, try checking on what the status of the original order is.

Hi Vishai,

I would also take a look at the number sequences for the Sales orders: I see that in the list you shared Sales Order SO059116 already exists, I do not know if you want to check, if the numbering of the Sales order is set to continous, the History of the number sequence to check if something is stuck for the Sales Order number sequence (in case you can either do the Manual cleanup or delete the stuck record in the history).

Can you share the steps you performed to "create the Return order for invoiced order"? From what exact form did you create the screenshot you shared?

We encountered a similar issue. Even though the order does not appear in the system, we receive this error message when trying to process it.

If you check at the table level, you may still find the order record. We have created a custom job to clean it up. Alternatively, could you please try running the Consistency Check?
