i have a requirement to apply dimensions on range of accounts as following:
1- range 10000 to 39999 will not have dimensions.
2- range 40000 to 59999 should have 3 dimensions: business unit , department and cost center
3- range 60000 to 99999 should have 2 dimensions: business unit and department.

how to setup this?
do we need advanced rule structure?

Regards,
David

    Hi David,

For this purpose, you don't need advanced rules. You can do this by creating 3 account structures with the Main account and dimensions as per your example. Then activate and link these three account structures to the Ledger form.

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, to apply dimensions by account range:

    Approach
    • Use Default Dimensions + Value Posting
    • Apply settings per G/L account (bulk update for ranges)
    Rules Implementation
    • 10000–39999 → No dimensions
    • 40000–59999 → Business Unit, Department, Cost Center (Mandatory)
    • 60000–99999 → Business Unit, Department (Mandatory)
    Key Point
    • No native support for range-based rules
    • Must configure per account (use Excel/config packages)

    Hi David,

After the reply from 11manish, I realized that you posted your question on the General forum.
Can you tell us what Dynamics 365 application this question is related to? There are several different solutions in the Dynamics 365 family. Is your question about Dynamics 365 Finance, or Dynamics 365 Business Central? If you can clarify the product, we can move it to the correct forum.
