Duplicate Checking Email Address 2 Field

I am importing a csv file and I am getting a lot of duplicates imported.  On further review, it is because the primary email is in the E-mail Address 2 field.

I tried to create a duplicate detection rule to compare a the Lead primary email field to the Lead Email Address 2 field but it only seems you can do that if you are comparing lead to contact.

Any advice?

    Hi,

    This is indeed a limitation of duplicate detection rules on the same entity.

    I suggest you move the email address 2 into the email address 1 field .You can do this by exporting to excel and marking for reimport, then updating in excel and then re-importing (www.crmsoftwareblog.com/.../save-valuable-time-with-the-export-for-re-import-feature-in-crm-2011)
