How to enter a phone number with an extension?

On the Customer Card, I'd like to enter a phone number which has an extension. Typically this would be written like "555-5555 ext. 5.", but Business Central disallows the "ext" portion of that. Is there an alternate standard way to denote an extension number?

I use brackets as text is not allowed i.e. 555-5555 (5)

You can use any other character than a letter to separate them f.ex #.

Letters are not allowed in the phone numbers in Business Central.

Hi, This is standard processing. Although this field is Text type, but the system has an additional judgment.
