frx service pack

I am trying to install the latest FRX service pack and am getting the following error.

"No FRX components detected.  Please verify that FRX is installed on this system and run the service pack again"

I get this same message whether I try service pack 11 or 12.  We are currently on service pack 9.  I have tried the service pack from multiple folder locations on the server.  We are on server 2008.  We use client installs with a shared sysdata directory.

Am I missing something obvious?

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Keith,

This means it cannot find the proper registry entries to apply the update. If you are using thin client installs you need to be sure to to apply the service pack on the server where the FRx full code was actually installed to. Then run frxreg67.cmd on the clients to update the code.

A lot of customers have several installs or moved FRx at one time or another. Something may be damaged, or this may not be the server where FRx was originally installed.

If you can't get that working I would suggest the following:

    1. Make a backup of the SysData

    2. Move the existing SysData

    3. Perform a new installation, using the SysData path that existed before

    4. Upgrade to the same service pack you were on

    5. Replace the "new SysData" with your prior one, which will bring back your users, companies, and reports.

    Thanks

    Ryan

Can you export your current spec set? If so, you will always be able to rebuild what is in your SYSDATA folder. You should have the FRx insallation CD . Do as Ryan says and do a fresh install and then apply SP9. Point everything to a local client as not to disturbed any on your shared SYSDAT folder. Then load SP 11 and SP12 and then point to the shared FRX SYSDATA folder.  Make sure all your workstations are on the same FRx SP level. So somewhere along the way you are upgrading your other workstations and FRx shared SYSDATA folder gets upgraded. If something gets messed up you always have your frxexp.tdb(spec set) to fully recreate you spec sets by doing a spec set import.

Thanks for your input.  It took a combination of uninstalling, reinstalling, and registering .dll's.  The software did not want to completely uninstall, so it took a while to figure that out.  I believe this goes back to Ryan's point that something had been moved.  At this point I have reinstalled and updated to the latest service pack and it is working.

    THANKS!
