How to link a form event to a workflow that is calling a plugin?

We created a plugin to update a field and are trying to call the plugin. The plugin is registered and shows in plugin assembly but we need it to run for certain events like when the page loads.

Thank you

    Hi Elsa,

Using contact as your entity here, if you want to run a contact plugin when the contact form loads you could write javascript in the form load event of your entity. Here's the client-side reference that shows everything available:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334481.aspx

If this was helpful, I'd appreciate if you would mark this as a verified answer. I'd be happy to help with any follow up questions too,

    Thanks,

     Aiden

My suggestion would meet your requirement, but I'm not sure that's the way to go. It depends on your specific case, but you may want to put your plugin on the Retrieve entity. This will mark sure you always return the record with the right info at that time. The downside is a lot of overhead. You could also calculate that field in the PreCreate/Pre Update events, but if it's dependent on some other records that may not give you accurate information.

If you want to just initiate a workflow, you could also do that in javascript on load of the record without having to save and trigger the plugin at all.
