DOMAIN Name change for users

Hello,

We currently have about 900 users in CRM using one domain.  We will soon be changing the domain for a large number of users in AD, which need to be updated in CRM.

1.  Will CRM know that there is a new domain name for the user?

2.  If not, how can we mass update the users to use the domain?

3. If we have to enable the mailbox (test/enable), is there a way to do this in a mass update way?

If anyone has any experience on this, it would be great.

Thank you,

Devin

Are the user accounts changing?  If not, then it might "just work."

However, if not, you might want to re-deploy Dynamics CRM.  Then you can re-map all your users when you bring the CRM database online again, so they'll definitely be connected to the new domain accounts.

I believe they are changing the domain for the users...same account, just different domain.. i think..  re-delpoy Dynamics?  We have a heavy customized installation.  Not sure entirely what you mean by re-deploy...

So fortunately, redeploying a Dynamics CRM install isn't that hard.

Take a backup of your CRM database (as you always should when missing with stuff), then uninstall CRM.  Reinstall CRM on that server with the same settings as before, and point it to the CRM database you have before.  The installation process should as you to map your users.  Tell it to automatically map, and if you're in luck, it will see your users with the new domain and map them to the old user accounts.  If not, you can manually map them, but automatic should work, since all the names will be the same.

Your customizations will survive in the CRM database, so you won't lose anything, and your users will be properly mapped.
