Fixed Asset ID is missing

I am not sure how this happened but one of our users entered a new asset last month and this month the asset did not depreciate. When I pull up the asset it has no asset ID. How could that have happened and what can I do to give it an asset ID?

    Hi Richard,

Do you mean that you can't pull it up in the Asset Book window at all?    If not, find it in the FA00100 Asset Master table and make sure the ASSETSTATUS = '1' on it instead of 0 (inactive).

There is an issue (#83434 to be fixed in GP 2015 R2) in the Asset General window that if the user chooses the purchasing drop-down BEFORE adding the asset ID, a script is called that will blank out the asset status and makes it unusable.  You need to enter the asset ID, select the purchase, and then enter a Class ID.    If you select purchases first, and then enter the asset ID and class last, that causes the issue.  To resolve, simply update the asset with a status of 1 in the FA00100 table.

    Hope this helps!

Cheryl, I had checked the FA00100 table and the ASSETID field is blank and the status is Active. There is a field called ASSETIDSUF and that has a value of zero. Can I just change this to 1 and enter the Asset ID they want to use directly in this table?

    Hi Richard,

You should be able to. The FA00100 has that information and then it uses the index number in all other tables, so it should work. Maybe to be safe, do it in a test company first, and then depreciate this one asset to make sure it depreciates fine.

    Thanks

Richard....what was your solution?  My client has the same situation (not related to the bug referenced since this asset was created prior to their upgrade to v2013).  Modifying FA00100 with both the correct Asset ID and Suffix did not resolve the problem.  The ASSETSTATUS does = 1.  The asset still appears with a blank ID in the interface and when selected returns the error, "Asset does not exist".  Thinking it may be easier to just delete the record and recreate.
