    Michael,

Does the Fixed Asset Card in question have an FA Posting Group on the Card?

    Thanks,

    Steve

thanks for reply Steve. it does have a FA posting group on the card. it is strange. could it be to do with the number series at all ?

the fixed asset card number is the first in the series.

Hello Mic, It looks like there is NO Acquisition entry posted for any of the Fixed Assets. Can you check if the FA is posted with the Acquisition entry first? Also am not sure what kind of FA G/L Journal you are trying to post.

If this has answered your question then please do mark this suggestion as Verified.

    Thanks Ashish

the acquisition is not posted. it is for opening balances for previous period. the G/L journal is created for all assets with Acqusition line and Depreciation line populated for each and corresponding balancing accts.

i tried it on 5 assets, 1 for each class and it worked fine. but when i continued on with the rest, it produced this item,

As Steve suggested i looked at teh FA card and the FA posting groups were completed.

When i go to the process tab and click on "insert bal account" it produces this. 12300 is the reference code in the chart of accounts for the Fixed asset cost where the value would be posted. the corresponding acc. depreciation would be 12400

Bal. Account No. must be equal to '' in Gen. Journal Line: Journal Template Name=ASSETS, Journal Batch Name=AUTOMATIC, Line No.=10000. Current value is '12300'.

What i have also noticed for all the assets is that the Acquired field is shaded out and switched to the left where they are NOT acquired.

    Thanks for reply Steve

Yes, it looks like that but i can only see the bal acct type and no fields and don't see the other fields in the table you've populated.

    regards

    Michael,

Press CTRL-ALT-F1 and look for the fields. If you can send a pic of the Journal and Asset Card maybe I can see something.
