Turning off/removing Named Printers

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi there, does anyone know how to turn off named printers in GP? I tried to set it up to resolve on users' printer issues in a terminal services environment and it's not working how I thought it would. I'd just like to get back to where I was before I turned it on. Is there a table somewhere that I can clear out? I don't see an option to disable it through the UI and all of the blog posts I've found only talk about how to configure it.

Named printers can be installed by user and system so if you are using a terminal server that has been installed with system you may have issues turning off for a specific user.

Check the DEX.ini file for entries and also Named Printers in GP

    Hey Michael -

    A couple of quick thoughts:

    1. Have you tried setting the printer class back to 'None'?

    2. Have you tried deleting the printer ID setup for the selected class?
