CRM 2011 Outlook CRM Contact Sync

Hi,

I am assisting one of the Sales guys trying to re-sync his outlook contacts with CRM2011.

Coupe of points worth noting:

  • in outlook he has many duplicates (came from previous CRM4 version)
  • CRM 2011 contains his 'cleaned' contacts

What we have done so far:

  • Removed all dupes for one contact (that exists in CRM and is owned by this guy) in outlook and also from deleted items folder
  • Re-synced with CRM (contact does not appear)
  • Deactivated/Reactivated Outlook contact filter (contact still does not appear)
  • In CRM in the audit history I now see under this contact an entry for  "This record was disassociated form the Subscription record type through the contact_subscription_association relationship'

I'm guessing this last entry is why the owned contact record will not re-appear in Outlook. Is there any way to get this relationship back ?

Secondly is there a better way to re-sync contacts from outlook and CRM. I was working on the lines of deleting dupes in outlook and re-syncing from CRM hence the issue above ?

Thanks in advance

Bobowoz

Here is an article showing a good way to get the contacts into CRM:

Thanks this is helpful in identifying what contacts are/are not synced with CRM. However in the case of having a contact NOT in outlook but in CRM is does not help me to fix the sync and get this contact back into Outlook.

        Hi Bobowoz,

Can you try assigning the record to someone else and then assigning back to the user?

        Hi,

Yeah tried that and re-synced back in Outlook. No joy! :-(

Hmm...I have had success with that in the past.  Did you assign it, then sync, then assign it back, then sync?  I'm curious if removing and reinstalling the Ourlook client would reset it.

I didn't initially I just assigned to someone else then back to me and re-synced. I have just tried your suggestion and still no joy including an outlook restart.

I have tried this in the past and it has worked as you suggest. The difference I think is this 'Disassociate Entities' audit entry that seems to be affecting it.

I can try removing/reinstalling the outlook client but this seems a very cumbersome resolution!

        Hi,

I've done quite a bit of research on this now and I have found that my outlook sync works fine EVERYTIME without issue in the Staging environment. However when I try and replicate the solution in Production with the Sales guy and doing it myself I don't get the contacts back in outlook from CRM. (I configure my outlook client to point to Production and replicate the steps ensuring contacts are deleted from outlook deleted items folder)

I'm currently led to believe it may be an environment issue but the only difference between the 2 I'm aware of is Staging sits on one server but Production has a separate database and CRM server.

No idea if this is the cause but its the only thing I've got right now!

        Thanks

        Bobowoz
