MR2012 Error - Datamart refresh

A customer has a problem with MR2012 since creating a new SL Application database with a fiscal year. They had initially created and later removed the same company in a separate SL Application database because that setup was for a calendar year. The MR2012 services now report the following error when trying to refresh the datamart:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'Datamart.Period' with unique index 'PeriodIndex_DateRange'. 

I suspect the duplicate row is related to the original company setup being integrated with MR. Can the period(s) from the initial integration be removed from the table Datamart.Period to allow the other integrations to resume? If not, will a Datamart rebuild alone fix this problem, or does a change to the SL companies need to happen before a DM rebuild?
