Currently D365 FinOps allows assignment of workflow to AD group through
workflow configuration.
Accordingly, the workflow setup is configured and when the workflow tries to assign the record for approval to an AD group user, system
is unable to identify the user to assign the workflow and throws an error
as below though proper access to D365 FinOps exists for the AD group

Finance and Operations.

ASK: Can the AD groups be used for workflow assignment instead of user groups? If yes, how?
Setup:AD GROUP Name: ‘D365FO_FINANCE_TEST’ is created and users are assigned to the AD group.
Groups: In D365 FinOps, Groups form ‘AD group’ is linked and Synchronised Free Text Invoice workflow is created with
Participant based assignment linked to the above created AD group. When a free text invoice is created and
submitted for approval, workflow fails with an error as below:
