Prompt for Changing Location Code

Hi:

When an end user is in a Sales Order and checks Availability by Location on a line item and closes out of any availability screens, he is prompted with a question asking if he wants to change his location from what it is currently to "?".

Why?  Also, if someone click "Yes" does it cause unforeseen issues, such as shipping from the wrong location?

Thanks!

John

Hi, If you're referring to the feature below, as far as I know, there's no such message.
You can check if it's a standard feature using the following method.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: How to check whether the current page/report is standard or customized

    Thanks

    Hello John,

This is standard Business Central behavior: when you open Availability by Location, BC evaluates stock in other locations, and when you close the page it asks whether you want to update the sales line’s Location Code to the location it just evaluated; clicking Yes will actually change the line’s location and can result in the item being picked, shipped, and posted from a different location, so users should only say Yes if they intentionally want to fulfill from that location—otherwise they should always click No to avoid shipping from the wrong place.

    Hi,

    Yes, you are right.

This is standard behavior and happens only when the last selected location on the availability page is other than the location on line and you click on Ok. If you click on Cancel instead of Ok, the prompt will not appear.

This happens to allow user to select a location from which an Item can be fulfilled for that order. This will change the location on line and prompt or will give error if warehouse documents are created or an order is released.

So this prompt gives flexibility to the user while creating the order to allow or choose from locations on which the item is available.

However once the order is released or approved, this action or clicking on Yes will give error and stop user from shipping from wrong location then what was intended.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.
