AWMS Limitations: Are Transfer Orders the Only Way for Inter-Warehouse Moves in Manufacturing?

I am in an implementation, trying to figure out the best way to set up my system sites and warehouses.

I'm just looking for confirmation on system functionality.

It appears that work templates and location directives generate work only within a single warehouse. Is this correct?

Does this mean that when moving inventory from one warehouse to another, such as picking raw materials from a raw material warehouse and putting them to a production input location in a production warehouse, we must rely solely on either manual inventory journals or transfer orders?

I ran a test on raw material picking between a raw material warehouse and a production warehouse, and it didn’t seem possible to generate work directly across warehouses.

Thank you all for your help.

    Good day,

The work template is a setting for the creation of work, while a location directive is a setting that determines the pick or put location in a warehouse. Work is always created within a single warehouse. However, you can configure generic work templates and generic location directives that apply to multiple warehouses.

A location directive for all warehouses

A work template for all warehouses

To move items from one warehouse to another, you can use transfer orders, transfer journals, or warehouse transfers via the Warehouse app.

    Best regards,
