Closing 2013 for Payables Management

Hi There, I have inherited GP system where the 2013 and 2014 years have not been closed. let me prefess this with stating I am totally new to GP.

Going to tools, routines, purchasing, close year, their is no option to set the closing date. Choosing close with the option of all (we end with the calendar year) seems to close up to the current date. Do I need to set the user date to control the period it closes? Does it matter if we haven't done anything with 1099's for 2014? GP 11.00.1752(SP2)

Thanks Babu, I will look these over. I was following step 9 in support.microsoft.com/.../875169

My understanding is the accountants have done the 1099's for 2013 but have not done anything with 2014

Running step 9 seemed to close up to the current date. I restored the database to go back before running the close.
