CRM Online New User Default Time Zone

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

For new users in CRM Online, does the user's default time zone get set by looking at the time zone of the web front end hosting the CRM online instance (like on-prem)?

So, for instance, creating a new user in the UK would default all users to GMT Coordinated Universal Time, instead of the specific GMT Dublin, London, etc.?

If this is true, is there any way to default the time zone of new users, or is it a case of the new user process that they should setup this themselves in the personal settings / use a tool to set it outside of CRM?

Thanks,

James

    Hi,

In CRM, you can change timezone according to these links:

    Thanks,

    Hi

So here is a little quirky thing

If you have set the install up with the default US as the system setting, Any user that is created until you change it will have that as the default, Once you have set the system default it will then use that for any users created afterword's.

I wonder if it is different in different regions though; in europe, it seems to set the time zone to "GMT Coordinated Universal Time" as the default.

Just to clarify, I know that the formats are controlled after the system administrator changes the default formats, but for the time zone, it appears to be completely separate from the formatting options?

    Hello,

did anyone find a resolution for this issue yet?

I am also facing the same issue.

The Online CRM Server(CRM6) is in New Zealand time but when we create the new user, it defaulted to GMT Coordinated time.

Any updates? is this an MS Bug?

Hi! Any real solutions to this issue? We use CRM Online (server CRM4) and the default time zone for new users differs from the one we're actually in.

If a user forgets to change their setting, it could cause serious problems as they will assume they are entering local datetimes but on the database they will be storing completely wrong values!

Additionally, is there a way to restrict that settings so users can't change it by mistake?

    Hello,

I have also notice this issue; how is the time zone set when a user is licensed? By default, a user time zone is set to GMT Coordinated Universal time? I have to update the Time Zone using XRM Tools box Users Settings tool. Every time a new user is setup and licensed; I have to update the user's timezone.

I have created the following Power Automate flow that automatically sets the time zone for a new Dynamics user: arjanterheegde.nl/.../
