Hi everyone,

I am new in the community.

While creating a new company in business central, BC suggests four types of company what are the main difference between all four companies?

The advanced evaluation is the new one which has more sample data to test MFG, Service, etc.

Evaluation - Sample Data
This creates a company that is similar to the demonstration company with sample data and setup data. This type of company is available to you without switching to a 30-day trial period, which the other types do.

Production - Setup Data Only
This creates a company that is similar to My Company with setup data but without sample data. You'll be able to use this company for a 30-day trial period.

Create New - No Data
This creates a blank company without setup data. You'll be able to use this company for a 30-day trial period.

Would you please elaborate on the difference between "Evaluation - Sample Data" and "Production - Setup Data Only" I have created four companies but find no difference between these two.

further what difference between production and evaluation, sample and set up data. please elaborate

Hi,

1) Evaluation - Sample Data: this creates a company that is similar to the demonstration company with sample data and setup data.

2) Production - Setup Data Only: this creates a company that is similar to My Company with setup data but without sample data.

3) Advanced Evaluation - Complete Sample Data: this creates a company with setup data and complete sample data for all features, including Manufacturing and Service Management.

4) Create New - No Data: this creates a blank company without setup data.

If you want to get started easily with a new company, choose Production - Setup Data Only and then import your own business data, such as customers, items, and vendors. Choose the New template if you want to set everything up from scratch. In that case, you can use the Company Setup assisted setup guide to help you get started with essential setup data.

Hi

In evaluation - sample data go to Item card, do you see any item? This should not be the case for Production- Setup Data Only. Other area to look is SO List, Sample Data should have some SO but not Production

On the surface all 4 companies are similar. But if you go to different pages you can see the difference.

The closest one here are Create New- No Data and Production - Setup Data. The difference here is in pages such as General Ledger Setup , Sales & Receivable Setup, etc. Which first one is blank in these pages but second one populated some data such as No Series.

fyi, currently there's a bug when you create a new company, Setup Data Only, in a GB localization (BC 20.1).

The following error occurs:

Field Period Reminder Time (22) of table VAT Report Setup (743) is obseleted, reason: Redesigned to a new field: "Period Reminder Calculation".
