Good day.
In NAV 2018 Item Templates cretes a record in Config. Template that let the user add new fields to the templates.
In Business Central Item Templates is deprecated and we have to use Item templ. This is ok.
My problem is that I Item Templ does not create ant record in the Config. Template. Also if I manually create a Config. Template for an Item I can't find how to apply it.
Can someone help me?
Kind regards
You are welcome.
Dear Bilal,
Thanks for you reply.
1. Forcing users to create items from only from the "new instance" action is not a great design.
2. This look like a teporary fix since the old functionality is deprecated but I will probably go for it hoping microsoft will fix that issue.
Hi,
If you want to apply template from config template then there are two ways:
1. Go to the configuration templates page. Open required configuration template and then use Create Instance. It will create a new record with all the information on configuration template.
2. Disable the feature that you have enabled for new template feature. Create a new configuration template with additional fields that you want to add. Try to create new Item, the newly created template should be shown and applied.
Dear Bilal,
Thanks for you reply.
I have all the features enabled:
I simpy want to apply a configuration template (not an Item template) to an Item. I do not want to use Item Templ. because I need to pilot extra fields. How can i do so?
kind regards
Hi John Blue,
If you want to apply the Item Templates from the table Item Templ. (new table) then make sure that you have enabled Templates feature in feature management. Its a newer feature by Microsoft. In feature management it is not written that this feature is related to item templates also other than contacts. but actually it is related to all new templates feature. Just enable this feature by searching Feature Management and enabling it(as in image) and then check. You do not need to add a record separately in item config template.
I want to apply the template at the item creation.
Hi John,
Item Template is a separate table and Config template is a different table. Both have different functionality. Can you tell where you want to apply?
