Dynamics 365 DeveloperToolkit plugin registration application crashes on Visual Studio debugging

Using the DeveloperToolkit with VS 2017 or 2015 continues to crash the plugin registration application when debugging. The difference is I have a soap webclient call. Connect the vs debugger to process plugin registration. Start plugin registration debug and breakpoints are being hit or stopped fine. But whenever a loss of focus occurs during a webclient call step in code, the plugin registration application crashes.

Please note, I have been debugging for many years without issue. This only relates to an external webclient call does this occur.

I would really appreciate some assistance from the developers of the plugin registration tool or plugin developers toolkit on this issue.

Try using the Plugin Registration Tool in the SDK or XrmToolBox.

I am using the plugin registration tool from the SDK. Not sure how the XrmToolBox can perform plugin debugging?

It is the SDK plugin registration tool that crashes on debug.

The XrmToolBox includes a Plugin Registration Tool. This may work for you.

My other suggestion is to download the latest version of the SDK or Plugin Registration Tool from NuGet.

When debugging using the Plugin Registration tool it does in fact crash on steps using an external http service call. To respond twice pointing to the XrmToolbox does NOT help this issue - the SDK download tools includes the Plugin Registration tool and that is in FACT where the XrmToolbox gets the plugin registration tool, so your replies are not helpful.

Michael Mayo the Plugin Registration Tool (PRT) inside XrmToolBox is a fork of the PRT Source Code that was available with the SDK for CRM 2011. From CRM 2013 Microsoft did not release the source code for the PRT, so the XrmToolBox PRT does not get the bits from the official NuGet package.

If it is crashing on a specific debug task you can:

1) open an issue on the GitHub repository if is about the XrmToolBox PRT github.com/.../PluginRegistration

2) contact Microsoft if is about the official PRT you download from NuGet
