Hi all,

There is a P&L with the column header as below.
As the end user could change the year in the filter, the year in the column is dynamics.
How is the column definition be setup like this?

Hence, how do I setup to show financial figure in last entire year in the column definition?

Thanks.
I have the same question (0)

    Hello ,

this is done with Account Schedules (Financial Reports) using relative period formulas, not fixed years. The column is defined with a Comparison Period Formula (for example last full year), so when the user changes the Date Filter, Business Central recalculates both the amounts and the year shown in the column header automatically. To show the entire previous year, you configure the column as Net Change and use a relative formula like last fiscal year (e.g. -1FY or equivalent based on your fiscal setup). You never hard-code the year — it’s fully dynamic.

    Hi,

You can achieve this by setting up Column definition.
You need to define two column definition as per your requirement.

In the previous year column, in the Comparison Date formula you can use -1Y or alternatively and more efficiently you can use Comparison period formula and enter -1FY there.

Now when you run the report and if user select fiscal year, and enter 24-25 date range in date filter then previous year column will show data of 23-24.

Now if you are talking about column headings you need to define it in the description field of column layout but it is not dynamic.
If you want it to be dynamic then you can use Include Date in Header. You can check this feature here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/bi-column-definitions#use-dynamic-date-headers

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

    Hi all,

at the end, it is working with -1Y in the Comparison Date Formula.
I tried to input -1FY in the comparison period formula, but it is not working.

Not really sure what the difference between them.

    Thanks.

    Hi @STP,

The Comparison date formula allows you to move between Days, weeks, month, quarters and Years.
Comparison period formula allows you to move between periods(Months), allows you to print specific month like January or March, also allows you to move exactly back for forward by a year or two.
-1FY shall work as it is standard formula by Microsoft documentation and I've used it in past.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.
