Hi Community,

I have an Item which I would like to return the original quantity and unit cost.

However, when I do a Purchase Credit Memo on a posted purchase Invoice, it gives this error.

Upon checking I see that the reason is because, the items purchased has been either sold or consumed at the warehouse.

Can you please advise what should I do to get back the original quantity and unit cost?

Error: "You have insufficient quantity of the Item AAA on inventory."

If the item has been sold, you need to do sales return order or sales credit memo, depending on the location setup so the original qty and cost would come back to your inventory. Then do a purchase return order.

Jun Wang is right. If you need the most accurate result, you need to cancel the used documents first, such as Posted Sales Invoice.

If you don’t care about the sales side, you can consider using Item Journal.
