As a user of GP 9 I am aware that there is no simple encryption of sensitive data stored in our MSSQL database. WE have no need for the ecommerce system or the need to have credit card transactions via GP, but we do store customers' credit card numbers and some social security numbers in our system.
Does anyone have a sense of GP11 and whether it will allow for encryption of sensitive data by administrator choice? And what are GP admins doing to protect sensitive data like credit card numbers and social security numbers stored in their database? Do you install one of hte several 3rd party addons? Or what?
Thanks.

I have the same question (0)First, Nodus offers an enhancement that encrypts only the credit card data and provides controls as to who can see the un-encrypted information. It is relatively inexpensive and I recommend that.
Otherwise, MS-SQL 2008 offers the opportunity to encrypt tables in the database. You would not have any control of who can see the data through GP other than using security and field level security to restrict access.
I am not sure that MS-SQL 2008 will work with GP 9 but it will with 10 and 11.
