Human Resources questions

Is there a good overview of the Human Resources module within Great Plains somewhere? I read the Systems User Guide but it didn't answer my particular questions. If anyone knows an answer to any of the questions below or can direct me to the right documentation - I would highly appreciate it! We have GP Dynamics 2013. We have ADP now, but would like to go back to GP Dynamics (5 years ago we were using it for HR but it didn't have some features that we needed + we had lack of training).

1. Is Payroll management able to do any tracking and managing absence and time worked on employee level?

2. We are in the Education industry, so we need to use Payroll based on states, is something like that possible? (different states have different rules about payroll)

3. Is there any kind of 941 filing assistance in GP 2013?

4. How does the retirement tracking work in GP - every 4 years, our employees get additional vacation time.

5. Our leave time (absence vacation, sick, personal..) is given upfront (at year one 80hrs) at the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1st) and then deducted. Can GP do something like this?

6. I know that the Business Portal is going away in the next version as a separate product, and that some of its features will be absorbed in the GP Dynamics. How can our employees see their benefits, tax forms..? Can GP manage clock-in/clock-out, or at least integrate with a 3rd party?

Thank you!!

1 - Yes. There is some enhanced functionality in the HR module.

2 - Yes, depending on the rules. It's difficult to make a complete answer. Implementing these rules may require some consulting expertise to do it properly.

3 - GP 2013 will generate a report that can be used to complete the 941.

    4 -

5 - There are several options for tracking paid time off in Dynamics GP: Payroll Accruals, PTO Manager, HR Time and Attendance, Integrity Data Comprehensive Leave Manager. Given your requirements, you likely need to avoid the standard Payroll Accruals functionality as it will not fill your need. See the following for some additional information: www.integrity-data.com/managing-leave-time-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp

6 - Microsoft replaced Business Portal with the Dynamics GP web client. This will provide self-service functionality to employees. This does include time sheet reporting but does not include clock in/out functionality. However, there are several solutions that will integrate with Dynamics GP.

    Hope this helps!

All of the requirements can be handled in GP with custom solutions and Add-ons, As Tom suggest you can not do it on your own, you need to engage some GP Functional and Technical experts to achieve all of this.
