Attaching a File to a Vendor

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am trying to set up a user with the ability to attach a file to a vendor record and am having trouble.  The user will access the vendor maintenance card from the Purchasing module.  When they do and pull up a vendor and then click on the 'Attach" button they get the message:

"You don't have security privileges to open this window.  Contact your system administrator for assistance."

For troubleshooting purposes I have added every security role but poweruser to this user's account.  I get the same result.  If I add the poweruser role to the account I am able to attach a file.

Can anybody help me get the account set up to attach a file without giving that account the poweruser role?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hi Jim,

Glad you sorted it out.. DEFAULT USER is not a GP security role as per say.. only Alternate/Modified Forms & Reports role.

Either you create a new Security Role to assign the proper resources or you take an existing one, copy it and remove the unnecessary accesses from it. This is usually the road I take, as it's quicker and safer.

Thanks for your help Spritely and Beat.  The thread you suggested led me to the answer.  What I ended up doing was modifying a task that gave rights to the Document Attachment Management window.  This allowed the user to access this window and attach files.  Yee Haaa!

For some reason adding the tasks DEFAULT USER, 'ADMIN_COMPANY_001*' did not give the user access to the windows.

Thanks again for answering the post.

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

Looks like you posted your question twice :-)

if the answer provided by Spritely didn't help you, I suggest that you look into the user's security and check if they are assigned to the role 'ESS PURCHASE REQUESTER*'...
This should provide access to the document attachment window in GP. Now it is fully possible that this role doesn't exist in your GP company... if that's the case, please check this link :
