Item tracking code error

Hi, i bumped into a challenge in business central. 

Item tracking code field, has been updated from "LOT no Tracking" to "blank" on existing item cards with sales. Meaning that existing item numbers now no longer is tracked on lot no. 

Now it is not possible to turn back. Due to industry contrains, we cannot change item number so i am looking for a solution to turn it back without losing data on existing posted lines. Is there a way to ensure item tracking code for lot no tracing, can be updated (back) to original tracing code.

    Hi,

    Create one batch for updating ILE Lot no. field blank. In this way you achieve the requirement.

    Hi, I'm curious, how did you change the Item Tracking Code to be empty when there are posted lines?

    The default system does not allow this.

    For example, You cannot change Item Tracking Code because there are one or more ledger entries for this item.

    If you force the modification through the tool, then I think you can only develop another tool to refresh your data.

    Hi Yun Zhu,

    simply through configuration package. Since system prompted above message for mass upload (when Item tracing code was included in data), the tracing code was removed with the assumption that this could not change but other data could be changed throug configuration package. However, blank input did overwrite master data on item tracing code, but not the other way around.
