Registering Multiple plugins

Hi,

I have spoken to our 3rd party who implemented CRM in regard to creating our own plugins to run various tasks. They mentioned it wouldn't be possible as they have already registered plugins and have a big solution with lots of existing code. Therefore, they want to do it for us.

I am not sure if there is a real concern here or its a possible fear of relinquishing control.

I am not new to coding but am new to writing plugins and wanted to check in case I am missing something: such as issues arising from registering multiple plugins against the same entity etc.?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

It kind of depends. There should be no issue IF those existing plugins were created assuming other plugins can be added on the same entities. For example, if you start updating records in your own plugins, those updates will initiate original plugins with different Depth. If those original plugins are using context Depth property to prevent recursion, they won't be doing what they are supposed to be doing.

In other words, technically you can register more plugins. But you may need to figure out how those other plugins have been implemented so your new code does not disrupt what's there already.

    Hi,

There is no issue , you can create your new solution inside Dynamics CRM  and register your plugins. No problem to  register your plugin.

Just to ensure while registering plugin select all the plugins(Your plugin class and third party plugin class) shows in the list of plugin registration tool.

Hope this will help . Please mark as answer if this will work.

    Thanks

    Goutam
