Updating/importing Large Amounts of Records

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question. MS Dynamics CRM 2016 Online

What is best practice to "import data to a new field on an existing account records"  for a large amount of accounts. I have an excel file of the accounts with account number as unique identifier and the data I would like to import onto that accounts record..... I feel like there should be an import tool with account number lookup... but there is not to my knowledge..

It is more than 10k records so I cannot just export to excel and vlookup and re-import - (unless, to my understanding, I call Microsoft and get them to enable exporting more than 10k records, which I might have to do).

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

New field is of what type ?

You can create a utility which will update your field with the data you want to update it.

    Hi CRMGuy,

You can write 1 middle ware application for importing data.

    1. You can use UpSert - new message for CRM 2016, it is very helpful for importing data.

    2. Combine UpSert with SSIS package (In case you are using CRM Onpremise)

    Thank you for the responses....

    Bhavin,

The data field is a Currency Field for importing previous year sales data. Could you elaborate on how you would go about creating this utility or point me to some documentation. Thanks.

    Pham,

Thank you for the suggestion - do you have any documentation as I am not familiar with this UpSert message. I looked at msdn documentation, however I was wondering if you knew a blog out there to walk me through the process.

    many thanks,

    CRMGuy
