You can make the business process flow field mandatory. Or you can write some JS to check if some value is already fill or not .

Hi,
You can marke the field required within the business process flow stage/ step. This will ensure that user needs to proide the value for the required field in order to move forward.

Hope this helps.
Setting a field as required / mandatory only seems to work for Data Steps, not Action Steps. My BPF's contain no Data Steps so need to find some other way to do this.
