No Admin Rights

Posted on by 25

I have been tasked to test Dynamics CRM for my company and I signed up for a trial and everything seemed to work fine ........but I cannot administer it,  looks like I am set up as a user????? If I set up the trial wouldn't I default to the system admin?  Having just user access does nothing for someone that has to prove out the technology... Please help.

Thanks,

Rob

  • RE: No Admin Rights

I figured out why I did not have admin rights when I setup the D365 trial.  Since I am not the global administrator and did not have admin rights I needed to have the Global Admin set me up as a user in the tenant and assign system admin rights.  I guess because I setup the trial on our platform I defaulted to my orgs security role which is not admin :).  Thanks for reaching out.

    Hi Rob,

Can you elaborate on which permission issue you encountered? If possible, please provide some screenshots.

To make you the admin, firstly log in to the environment with the account you used when you registered for the D365 trial.

Then when you are in the D365, click Advanced Settings > Security > User, can you successfully enter this page?

If so, select your account user, click MANAGE ROLES, then select System Administrator.

Generally, if you do not go through these steps to change your security role, then your default is System Administrator.

Therefore, the cause of the problem may be that you created a new user and used the new account to log in to D365 instead of the account you used to sign up for the trial version. Your original account is as follows.

    HI,

If that is the case, You can assign user Global Administartor in office 365 which will by default provide system admin role in CRM Dynamics for that user.

Check if you have Global admin role in office 365.

You could also create new user and assign him global admin role in Office 365.

    RE: No Admin Rights

    Hi,

Normally that user is promoted to Admin user but it seems some other user also faced this issue, so you can try using following steps

    1. Settings -> Security -> Users

    2. Select your user

    3. Promote to admin

Here is the reference blog, please refer it for more details

If it's not helping you then you need to setup another trial.

If you are the one who created the trial then you are the admin by default. What are you seeing? What are you trying to do and what error you are seeing if you think this is a permission issue?
