Switch Dynamics CRM online Sandbox instance to Production

I have Microsoft Action pack where I get 2 dynamics CRM instance along with other apps(Instance 1, Instance 2). Initially, i have customized one instance(Instance 1 - Sandbox) and did all my changes. Due to some issue in Instance 1, I am not able to move the customization to Instance 2. So I configured Instance 2 as Sandbox and started customizing the same thing which I did for Instance 2.

Now I want to convert Instance 2 to Production. My major concern is I have made a lot of customization and Data upload in Instance 2 and I am afraid of Data/Customization loss if I switch instance 2 from Sandbox to production.

Anyone did the same before please let me know.

I have tried to export Default Solution/Custom Solution but when tried to import the same in another online trial instance its showing XML mapping issue.

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi VVTV,

For customisations, you should be using a custom unmanaged/managed solution that contains all of your customisations that you wish to deploy out to another environment. It's never really recommended to customise/export directly from the default solution.

If you can share some further details regarding the errors you are getting when importing your solution, this would help to determine what the exact cause is.

You could also try looking at the Backup/Restore feature within the Administration Centre to copy and restore your instance to another sandbox instance:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../backup-restore-instances

Would suggest attempting to resolve your solution import issues first before resorting to this option.

    Kind Regards

    Joe

    Hi VVTV,

Switching an instance from sandbox to production doesn't impact your customization or data. It means now you wont be able to do certain actions like reset, administration mode.

    Read more here: docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-sandbox-instances

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Changing and instance from Sandbox to production does not change the instance data at all. All it does is limit you as to what actions you can do to the instance.

You should be good just changing the instance.

    Hope this helps.

Prompting Sandbox to production is different from copying data from one instance to another, where you have choice to do full copy or minimal copy, you can check more details here: docs.microsoft.com/.../copy-instance

But in your case everything will be there. You can share some more details about the issue that you are facing here for enquiry.
