Terminal Server and GP printing issues

We are rolling out GP 10 (sp3) to our users via Terminal Server 2008.  Unfortunately GP does not support Terminal Server Easy Print.

Basically users can't print.  Sometimes they see printers, sometimes not.  The drivers on the servers match the drivers on the workstations.  I have all identical drivers on all terminal servers.  The only work-around it to create non-shared printers within the printer console, and at least users see those.

 Questions:

1.  Will MS ever support Easy Print within GP?  Terminal Server 2008 has been out for over a year, and really there is no excuse for a major Microsoft product not to print via Easy Print.

2.  Anyone have any other suggestions?

We're probably going to have to spend major $$$ to bump up our Citrix XenApp licenses and use that instead of TS.  At least Citrix has a "universal printer driver" as a decent fallback.

I don't know where you see that. If you go to the bottom of the page, it shows Windows XP as the product the hotfix applies to.

The patch indicates it is for Vista only.  Any idea if I can run it on XP, since it's once of those msu patches?

Yes, the KB article, once installed on a workstation, should enable the user of the workstation to print to a local printer without a problem.

Wow - thank you for the fast response!  To clarify, this hotfix corrected problems with printing in Terminal Server?  I just want to be sure.

Re: Terminal Server and GP printing issues

There is a hotfix (KB957070) from Microsoft regarding a totally different issue but it fixed this issue for a client of mine. I also saw postings where it fixed the issue for other GP users.

Regarding your suggestion about making GP work with Terminal Server 2008 and Easy Print in particular, I believe the issue is tied to Report Writer and it's generic use of page layout. I would be very surprised to see GP 10 made to work with Easy Print because doing so would require the reports to be all changed. Because GP is moving away from Report Writer in GP 11, MS will probably not do anything to resolve the issue for version 10.
