Posted warehouse shipments and Posted Sales shipments

Could someone explain how posted warehouse shipments and posted sales shipments are related?
Does posting a warehouse shipment automatically also create a posted sales shipment? Is it a job queue or background MS code?
I understand that without warehousing turned on you would simply have the posted sales shipment.
I'm guessing the same applies with inventory picks.

Thanks

    Yes. Done using code.

    Yes.

On a purchase/sales order a purchase receipt or sales shipment is always posted. This is the case if you do or don't use advanced warehousing documents.

It looks like your warehouse shipment is created from Sales Order. For Sales Order, if the item quantity is posted, a Posted sales shipment will be generated.
    For example,
Sales Order -> Posted sales shipment
Sales Order -> Warehouse Shipment -> Posted Warehouse Shipment + Posted sales shipment

However, if your warehouse shipment is created from other documents, such as Transfer Order, this will not generate a Posted sales shipment, but a Posted Transfer Shipment instead.

    Hope this helps you understand.

    Thanks.
